先日、元サッカー日本代表で現在は実業家としても活躍する中田英寿さんと
B’zのボーカリスト稲葉浩志さんとの対談について書いたところ、

いつも楽しく拝読してます。
感想報告です。
僕も判断に迷った時参考にしているひとりは、
中田英寿さんです。
同じような時代を生きてきたロールモデルです。
craft sake weekに毎回行ってるし、
現役時代は、イタリアのペルージャまで応援に出かけました。後は、都知事候補でポスター貼りボランティアで協力できた安野さんもメンター的な存在になりました。
次回の記事も期待してます。

おそらく中田さんの自伝なども読んで、過去のことまでよく知っているのではないでしょうか。
人生を丸ごと追いかける意味
この読者さまの話を読んで、「イコール自分」になれるくらい誰かの人生にどっぷりつかることの意味を考えるきっかけをいただきました。
ひとりの人物の人生、つまり過去・現在・そして未来も追いかける。
ひとりの人生を知れるだけ知るとどうなるのか。
「自分はこんな生き方しようかな」「あの人ならどう考えるかな」と、迷った時の指針ができます。
これは単なる「憧れの人」や「尊敬する人」を持つこととは少し違います。
その人の人生をまるごと自分の中に取り込み、いつでも頭の中で対話できる関係性を築くこと、という感じです。
そんな人物、いらっしゃいますか？
現代における個人の物語の重要性
話はちょっとそれて、また戻ってきます！
私は今の時代を、とても難しい時代だと感じています。
「大きな物語」が機能しにくくなっているからです。
会社も家族も、国も宗教も、かつてほど絶対的な指針とはなりにくくなっています。
そのため「自分を信じよう」「自分軸で生きよう」という考え方が主流になっていますが、実は自分ほどあいまいなものもありません。
そこで、誰かの人生を丸ごと自分の中に入れてみる。
その人といつでも頭の中で会話する。
こうした方法が、新たな生き方の指針となるのでは、と思っています。
メッセージ
あなたにとってのロールモデルは誰でしょうか？
その人の人生を、どれだけ深く知っていますか？
単に「憧れている」だけでなく、その人の人生の軌跡を丁寧に追いかけてみる。

One of the people I refer to when making decisions is Hidetoshi Nakata.
He is a role model who lived through a similar era.
I attend Craft Sake Week every year and even traveled to Perugia, Italy to support him during his playing days.
Another mentor figure for me is Mr. Anno, whom I helped as a volunteer during his campaign for governor.

The Importance of Fully Following a Life
Reading this reader’s feedback made me think about the significance of immersing oneself so deeply in someone else’s life that it almost becomes your own.
Knowing every aspect of someone’s life—their past, present, and future.
What happens when you know someone’s life as much as possible?
You develop a guidepost for when you’re unsure: “I’ll live like this” or “What would that person think?”
This is slightly different from simply having an “admired person” or “respected person.” It’s about incorporating their entire life into yours and building a relationship where you can always have a mental conversation with them.

The Importance of Personal Narratives in Modern Times
The topic might stray a bit, but it will come back around!
I find the current era very challenging.
This is because “grand narratives” are less effective.
Companies, families, nations, and religions are no longer as absolute as they once were.
As a result, the prevailing idea is to “believe in yourself” or “live with your own axis,” but in reality, nothing is more ambiguous than the self.
That’s why incorporating someone else’s life into yours and having conversations with them in your mind can provide new guidance for living.

Rather than just “admiring” them, try following the trajectory of their life closely.
