本日は「自己分析の矛盾」をテーマにお伝えします。
自己分析、当たり前にするひとが増えています。
転職活動で使える強みを話せるようにするためにも、会社選びに失敗しないようにするためにも、自己分析は使われています。
その一方で、こんな声もいただくことが増えました。
いろいろごちゃごちゃ自己分析しすぎてわけわからなくなりました
分析するほど「自分ってなんだ？」と悩むことが増えた
年齢は20代〜50代の方、佐野のようにキャリアのピンチにいる方から
順調にキャリアを重ねていると思われる方まで、自己分析で迷子になります。
自分を知ろうとすればするほど、わからなくなる。
どうしたらいいのでしょうか？
自己分析はしない方が良いのでしょうか？

（２）自分をつくってきたものを知る「間接的な自己分析」をすると、「こんな人間だからこういった意思決定をしよう」と定まる

自己分析迷子は「ルーツを知る」で脱する
そんなときにおすすめのが、「ルーツを知る」です。
あなたは「自分のルーツ」を調べたことはあるでしょうか？
家系図を調べるまでもなく、例えば自分の親の職業がなにでどんな職業人だったかを聞くこともひとつです。
自分が生まれた土地はどんな風土なのかであったり、自分が興味を持っていたスポーツや音楽はどんな歴史があるか、なども当てはまります。
自分のことを直接知ろうとするのではなく、自分をつくってきたものを知る。
間接的な自己分析をすると、「自分てこんな人間だな」と納得することができ「こんな人間だからこういった意思決定をしよう」と定まります。
あなたの名前の漢字の由来をご存知ですか？
「そんな立派なルーツは・・・」と思ったら、あなたの名前の漢字を調べてみるのはどうでしょうか？
例えば私、佐野創太には「創」という字があります。
この字を調べると、こんな意味に出会えました。
「創造の創が「きず」だということは意外に知られていないようです。（絆創膏という薬もあることです。）創造の創は、もちろん「物事の始まり、始め」という意味ですが、物事の始まりが「きず」だということは大変意味深いという気がします。」

この「創」の意味に出会ってから佐野は、と自分語りが長くなるのでやめますが、漢字は誰もが持つルーツのひとつです。
ぜひ自分と出会い直すために、ルーツ探しをしてみてくださいませ。

Today’s theme is “The Paradox of Self-Analysis.”
More and more people are engaging in self-analysis. It’s used to identify strengths that can be leveraged in job hunting and to avoid mistakes in choosing a company.
On the other hand, we’ve been hearing more comments like these:
I’ve analyzed myself so much that I’m completely confused.
The more I analyze, the more I wonder, “Who am I?”
People ranging from their 20s to their 50s, whether facing career crises like Sano or seemingly building successful careers, can get lost in self-analysis.
The more you try to understand yourself, the more confused you become. What should you do? Is it better not to do self-analysis at all?

1. Trying to understand yourself directly can lead to getting lost in self-analysis.
2. Indirect self-analysis, like learning about what has shaped you, helps clarify your identity and decision-making.
3. Kanji characters are a root everyone possesses and are easy to analyze.
Escape Self-Analysis Confusion by “Knowing Your Roots”
In such times, I recommend “knowing your roots.” Have you ever researched your own roots?
Without even needing to create a family tree, you could, for example, ask about your parents’ occupations and what kind of professionals they were. You might also look into the nature of the place you were born or the history of sports and music you were interested in.
Instead of trying to know yourself directly, learn about what has shaped you.
Indirect self-analysis allows you to conclude, “This is the kind of person I am,” and to make decisions accordingly.
Do You Know the Origins of the Kanji Characters in Your Name?
If you think, “I don’t have such grand roots,” how about looking into the origins of the kanji characters in your name?
For example, in my name, Sota Sano, there’s the character “創” (so). Researching this character, I found this meaning:
“Many people are not aware that the ‘so’ in ‘creation’ also means ‘wound’ (as in ‘bandage’). ‘Creation’ indeed means ‘beginning of things,’ but the idea that the beginning of things is a ‘wound’ is very profound.”
(‘Recommendation of Poetry: The Passage of Poetry and Words (Shinomori Bunko 103)’ by Hiroshi Yoshino, Shichosha)
Since discovering this meaning of “創” (so), I have had my own realizations (but I’ll stop here to avoid going into a long self-narrative). Kanji characters are a root that everyone has. To rediscover yourself, try exploring your roots.
Rather than grappling with the nebulous concept of “self,” tracing tangible things will prevent you from getting lost. (Although, this depth means you can go endlessly)
When you think “I don’t understand myself,” remember to explore your roots through indirect self-analysis.
